At Jaguar Lakeside, we always recommend that drivers keep up on preventative maintenance to ensure that engines don’t overheat. However, they will still encounter problems from time to time. Knowing why they will overheat will make it easier to take care of your vehicle.

One of the most common reasons for an engine overheating is that there’s no more coolant. This is an important liquid that helps the radiator do its job. Some coolant will evaporate over time. If you have just had it topped off and the “check engine” light is coming on, there may be a leak or clog somewhere in the radiator.

Another reason for an engine overheating is because of a broken part. There may be an issue with a hose, the thermometer, or the radiator. Even the radiator fan can break, making it hard for the cooling system to work properly.
